Key points
  • For an abnormal condition, first clear people from danger, then secure the load, and then shut down the equipment. Personnel must stay out from under suspended loads and clear of possible swing paths.
  • Complete the six pre-shift checks before following the standard eight-step operating sequence. Do not overload the equipment, operate without confirming load retention, or run with a fault.
  • This card provides workstation reminders. Equipment-specific instructions, risk assessments, training requirements and energy-isolation procedures still apply.

01Purpose

Print this card double-sided on A4 paper, laminate it if required, and display it near the equipment. Operators can refer to the pre-shift checks, standard operation, prohibited actions, initial fault response and handover requirements at the relevant stage of work.

02Intended users

  • Authorized pneumatic industrial manipulator operators who have completed equipment-specific training.
  • Team leaders or safety personnel responsible for shift handover, workplace inspections and escalation of abnormal conditions.
  • Qualified maintenance personnel responsible for servicing, fault assessment and repair records.

03How to use

StageRequired actions
1. Six pre-shift checksVerify authorization and operating conditions; inspect the air or electrical supply, load-bearing connections, hoses and cables, tooling and safety functions; clear the work area.
2. Controlled start-upApply energy gradually and conduct an unloaded trial in accordance with the equipment procedure. Check motion, braking, locking, limits and tooling response.
3. Standard handlingVerify the application, align accurately and pick up the workpiece. Confirm retention before a low-height trial lift, then transfer smoothly. Release only after the workpiece is fully and securely supported.
4. Initial response to an abnormal conditionWarn and isolate the area immediately, first moving personnel out of danger. Lower the load safely only while the system remains controllable and the equipment-specific procedure permits it. Do not force a reset or bypass interlocks.
5. Shutdown and handoverConfirm that the workpiece is securely supported or unloaded and that the tooling is in a safe, low position. Apply the required locks, isolate energy, release stored energy, and record faults and repairs.

04Key requirements

CategoryMain requirements
Ten prohibited practicesDo not overload or handle unapproved workpieces; enter beneath a load; leave a suspended load unattended; move before retention is confirmed; drag a jammed load; swing or pull violently; alter components or settings without authorization; operate with an abnormal condition; isolate energy before the load is stable; or operate without training and authorization.
Pressure loss and driftWarn and isolate the area. No one may enter the load zone or support a suspended workpiece by hand. Follow the equipment-specific procedure and risk-control measures.
Binding or retention faultsDo not force movement, continue operation, repeatedly reset the system or bypass safety interlocks. Stop using the equipment and arrange assessment by qualified personnel.
Handover recordsRecord workpiece specifications, energy status, pressure readings or alarms, observed abnormalities, temporary restrictions and completed repairs.

05Conditions of use

Safety requirements:This card is a general reminder and does not replace the equipment-specific manual, project risk assessment, site training, work permits or lockout/tagout procedures. Use the nameplate, approved documents and site rules for operating conditions, loads, pressures, controls and abnormal-condition response. Only appropriately qualified personnel may perform disassembly, adjustment, repairs, load verification or electrical work.
If an abnormal condition occurs:First keep personnel clear and isolate the danger area. Record the symptoms and operating conditions. Do not resume operation until the cause has been identified and an authorized release has been issued.
