01Why a Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator Requires Standardized Operation

Pneumatic Industrial Manipulators usually consist of mechanical structures, pneumatic control systems, load balancing systems, operating handles, clamps or vacuum gripping devices. Improper operation of any link may affect the smoothness of handling and the status of the equipment. For example, overloading will increase the burden on the mechanical and pneumatic systems; moving without confirming clamping may cause the workpiece to slip; personnel standing under the load may easily enter the dangerous area; adjusting the compressed-air supply or changing the air path without authorization may lead to abnormal balance, out-of-control movements, or failure of safety protection. The purpose of standardized operation is to make the equipment operate stably within the designed working conditions.

02What actions cannot be done

  • Overloading is prohibited: Do not lift workpieces that exceed the capacity of the equipment just for "occasional moving". Overloading will affect the structural stress and the safety margins of clamps, cylinders, and suction cups.
  • Personnel are prohibited from standing under the load: Hands, feet or body should not be inserted into areas where workpieces may fall or swing.
  • It is prohibited to leave the load unattended: Do not leave the workstation, answer the phone, handle other tasks, or keep the load suspended for a long time when the load is suspended.
  • It is prohibited to move the fixture without confirming that it is clamped: Make sure the fixture is in place, the workpiece is stable, and the vacuum or clamping status is normal before moving.
  • Do not drag the workpiece: The Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator is used to assist lifting and smooth transportation. Forcibly dragging stuck workpieces and material frames may cause unbalanced loading, impact or surface damage.
  • Violent swinging and impact operations are prohibited: Avoid rapid swinging, jerking and releasing, sudden stops and turns, and reduce inertial impact and collision.

03What should be checked before correct operation

It is recommended to conduct daily inspections before use every day: check whether the compressed-air supply pressure is normal, whether the pneumatic tubing and joints are leaking, loose, bent or worn; check whether the body is abnormally loose, abnormal noise, or stuck, and whether the operating handle and control buttons are sensitive and reliable. custom tooling should check the jaws, suction cups, compression blocks, positioning parts, connecting bolts and limiting structures; vacuum cranes should confirm that the suction cups are not aged, damaged, or deformed, and that the suction surfaces has no obvious oil, dust or foreign matter; pneumatic equipment should confirm that the no-load and loaded movements are smooth, and that the load does not float or sink abnormally. It should also be confirmed that the transportation path is clear and there is no interference from peripheral equipment, material racks, guardrails, passages and personnel positions.

Is it okay to overload the Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator once in a while?

Not recommended. The rated load of the equipment is an important boundary for safe use. Overloading will increase the risks of the mechanical structure, pneumatic system and custom tooling, and should be used according to the program requirements.

The workpiece has been clamped. Can people stand underneath and observe?

No. Even if the fixture clamping or vacuum gripping is normal, personnel should not stand under the load and should observe and operate from a safe position.

Can it still be used when the compressed-air supply pressure is unstable?

The machine should be stopped first to confirm the cause. Abnormal compressed-air supply pressure may affect the clamping force, vacuum gripping force and load balance status. It is not recommended to operate with abnormality.

The clamp moves a little slowly, but it can still hold the workpiece. Does it need repair?

Need to check. The slow movement of the tooling may be related to pneumatic tubing leakage, loose joints, abnormal valve parts or mechanical jamming, which should be included in maintenance and handled in time.

Does the inspection need to be re-inspected when operators change shifts?

It is recommended to confirm the handover. In particular, workpiece specifications, fixture status, compressed-air supply pressure, abnormal alarms and changes in on-site obstacles should be clearly explained during shift changes.
