Custom Tooling and End-Effector Solutions

Tooling determines whether the equipment can handle a workpiece stably, safely and accurately. AUREK designs around the workpiece rather than applying one tool to every application.

AUREK Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator with Custom Tooling for Irregular Workpieces

Product Overview

Even at the same 100 kg weight, sheet materials, box-type products, seats, stators and high-temperature castings require completely different gripping methods.

During solution development, AUREK first confirms permitted gripping positions, surface condition, center-of-gravity changes and handling motions before selecting the end-effector tooling.

Common Gripper Options

  • Vacuum handling is usually evaluated first for cartons, sheet materials and sheet-metal parts.
  • For cylindrical and roll-type workpieces, expanding-shaft, internal-expansion or external-clamping solutions can be evaluated.
  • High-temperature castings require consideration of heat-insulating materials, operating distance and gripper temperature resistance.
  • Complex workpieces such as automotive seats and battery trays generally require dedicated tooling designed around their locating points.

Tooling Design Priorities

  • Gripping design must consider not only weight, but also the center of gravity and changes during handling motions.
  • For products prone to deformation or scratching, use a large or compliant contact area wherever possible.
  • For workpieces requiring tilting, confirm the tilting angle, center-of-gravity shift and travel-limit protection in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can custom tooling be ordered separately?

This can be evaluated from the workpiece and equipment interfaces. Tooling can be paired with a Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator or designed around existing handling equipment.

Are vacuum cups suitable for every flat surface?

No. Surface leakage, oil contamination, roughness and deformation, as well as the vacuum safety factor, must be evaluated.

How long does it take to finalize a tooling solution?

Workpiece data and on-site motions must be confirmed first. For complex applications, provide drawings, photos or on-site video.

Need a Custom Handling Solution?

Provide the workpiece weight, dimensions, site photos, handling path, and any tilting requirements. AUREK's engineering team will use this information to assess the manipulator and tooling solution.
