  • Step Six · Descend: After approaching the placement position, slowly descend to prevent crushing of the workpiece, tooling or hands.
  • Step Seven · Release: After confirming that the workpiece has been stably positioned, release the clamp or release the vacuum.
  • Eighth Step · Reset: Return the manipulator to the specified parking position and do not hang it in the passage or above the head of the person.

During training, it is recommended that employees complete at least one complete handling cycle, and that the team leader observes whether the movements are consistent and whether there are any dangerous habits.

05Prohibited operations that must be remembered

New employees must know what actions they must not do:

  • Overloading is prohibited: Do not handle workpieces that exceed the weight, size, or clamping range.
  • Clamping and hanging are prohibited: Do not use the manipulator to drag the stuck workpiece.
  • Impact operation is prohibited: Do not hit the workpiece, material rack or equipment with the clamp.
  • Personnel are prohibited from entering dangerous areas: No one is allowed to stand under the workpiece, within the movement path or within the rotation area.
  • Rapid arm swinging is prohibited: Especially when the workpiece is suspended, sudden acceleration, emergency stop or large-angle swing.
  • It is prohibited to lift without clamping firmly.: If you find that the vacuum gripping is unstable or the clamping is skewed, you should put it back immediately.
  • Private adjustments are prohibited: Adjustments to air pressure, limiters, balance valves, throttle valves or fixture structures should be completed by the equipment administrator or factory engineering personnel.

These prohibitions should be posted near workstations and included in daily safety inspections.

06On-site handling methods for common abnormalities

Exception handling ability is an important part of judging whether training is qualified:

  • Loss of air or significant drop in air pressure: Stop transporting immediately, keep personnel away from the workpiece, place the workpiece safely according to equipment requirements or wait for maintenance personnel to handle it.

07Ergonomics and safe positioning

The value of a Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator is to reduce physical burden, but incorrect positioning can bring new risks. The operator should stand on the side of the workpiece or in a position where it is convenient to exert force through the control handle. Avoid standing directly under the workpiece, or in a position where the workpiece, manipulator, or material rack may be caught. Hands should hold the control handle or the specified handle and should not extend into the clamping surface, the workpiece landing point or near the rotating joint. The line of sight should be able to observe the workpiece, fixture and placement position at the same time, and adjust the position if necessary, rather than operating blindly.

Keep a safe distance from peripheral equipment, aisles, material frames, columns and other personnel. When multiple people collaborate, it should be clear that one person is the main operator, and other personnel are not allowed to push or pull the workpiece or the manipulator at the same time. For larger workpieces, the moving path should be planned in advance and the path should be confirmed to be obstacle-free before moving.

08Shift handover inspection and daily inspection

When handing over a shift, the previous shift should explain the operating status of the equipment, whether any abnormalities have occurred, whether fixtures have been replaced, and whether there are any unresolved maintenance matters; the next shift should confirm the air pressure, pneumatic tubing, joints, tooling units, suction cups, limits, emergency stops, bolts and overall operating status according to the inspection list.

Routine inspections are not just about filling out forms, but also about discovering risks in advance. 10Criteria for judging qualified training

After new employees complete training, they should not just use "listening to the explanation" as the qualification criterion. It is recommended to comprehensively judge from the following aspects: be able to independently explain the main components of the equipment and the function of the clamp; be able to judge whether the current workpiece is within the allowed handling range; be able to complete a complete, smooth, and non-dangerous movement handling cycle; be able to actively confirm whether the workpiece is stable after clamping; be able to name at least five prohibited operations; be able to identify common abnormalities such as unstable vacuum gripping, workpiece sliding, abnormal noise, and drift; be able to correctly use emergency stops and understand the reporting process after shutdown; be able to complete pre-start inspections and handover inspections as required.
