How to Inspect Equipment on Arrival: Unpacking Checks for Pneumatic Industrial Manipulators

After the equipment arrives, you should first complete the unpacking inspection of the outer packaging, transportation damage, nameplate, host components, air-line fittings, accompanying information and accessory spare parts. Before the acceptance is completed, it is not recommended to ventilate, electrify, hoist or test run without authorization.

A Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator is workstation handling equipment that typically comprises the main unit, a column or support structure, pneumatic controls, a balancing mechanism, custom tooling or vacuum-gripping tooling, pneumatic fittings, installation accessories, and supplied documentation. Between dispatch and delivery, the equipment may undergo loading, transport, unloading, short-term storage, and internal transfer.

01Why is arrival acceptance important?

The purpose of arrival acceptance is not only to confirm that "the goods have arrived", but also to check the contract configuration, confirm the transportation status, discover appearance damage, check whether the attachment information is complete, and provide a basis for subsequent installation and commissioning. If the unpacking inspection is insufficient, problems such as missing parts, damaged clamps, deformed air-line connections, inconsistent nameplate information, or incomplete installation information may occur.

02Check before unpacking

Check the status of outer packaging

First check whether the wooden boxes, pallets, stretch films, rain-proof packaging, sealing marks, etc. are intact, focusing on whether they are damaged, damp, deformed, dumped, impacted, and whether they have been repackaged or abnormally unpacked. If there is obvious damage, photos should be taken and recorded in the presence of the carrier, and noted on the receipt. If necessary, contact AUREK for confirmation before deciding whether to unpack.

Check receipt information

Before unpacking, check whether the equipment name, customer name, item number, box number, delivery address, number of pieces and other information are consistent with the contract, shipping notice or logistics document. When multiple pieces of equipment arrive at the same time, they should be checked one by one according to the box number to avoid mixing equipment, fixtures or accessories at different work stations. All configurations should be subject to the contract configuration, packing list and final technical solution.

Check unloading and temporary storage conditions

Violent collisions, dumping and dragging should be avoided when unloading. Before the equipment is formally installed, it should be stored in a dry, flat, and safe location to avoid rain, heavy pressure, forklift collision, or unauthorized personnel from dismantling the packaging. Parts with vacuum suction cups, cylinders, precision valves, pneumatic tubing joints and operating handles should be specially protected.

03Check after unpacking

Transportation damage inspection

Check the surface of the equipment as a whole for bumps, scratches, deformations, paint peeling, bending of structural parts, loose connections, etc. It is recommended to conduct an item-by-item inspection from the main machine, columns, arms, rotating parts, balancing mechanisms, clamps, pneumatic components to accessories. If suspected transportation damage is found, disassembly and assembly should be stopped immediately, and photos should be taken for documentation from the outer packaging, damaged location, the entire equipment, nameplate, and box number.

Equipment nameplate verification

Check whether the equipment name, model, serial number, factory information, etc. on the nameplate are consistent with the contract configuration, packing list and final technical solution. If the content on the nameplate is inconsistent, or falls off, is damaged, or cannot be identified, please report it to AUREK in a timely manner. It is not recommended to arrange installation and commissioning before checking clearly.

Host component inspection

Check whether the arm body, column, base, rotating structure, limiting parts, connecting plates, fasteners, balance components and operating parts are complete. For Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator, you should also check whether the pneumatic control components, cylinders, valve groups, filtering and pressure reducing components and air interfaces are damaged or loose. At this stage, only appearance and integrity inspections are performed. Control components should not be disassembled without authorization, and ventilation test operations should not be performed before the installation and compressed-air supply conditions are confirmed.

Check whether the clamp body, clamping jaws, suction cups, positioning blocks, connecting flanges, handles, cylinders, hoses, vacuum generators or related pneumatic components are intact. Customized fixtures should check the clamping surface, vacuum gripping surface, operating direction and connection interface based on the workpiece information and the final technical solution. The fixture structure should not be modified on site.

Pneumatic-Tubing and Fitting Inspection

Confirm that the air-line joints are not broken, significantly deformed, or fallen off, and that the air line is not severely creased, broken, or flattened. If an abnormality is found, do not conduct a direct ventilation test. Instead, take photos and records and contact AUREK to confirm replacement or processing methods to avoid safety risks caused by air leakage, malfunction, or abnormal clamp movement.

04Supplied documentation and accessory inspection

accompanying documentation usually includes packing list, product description information, certificate of conformity, installation or commissioning documents, maintenance instructions, pneumatic schematic or electrical information, etc. Accessory spare parts may include installation fasteners, air-line fittings, special tools, wear parts, spare suction cups, etc. The specific configuration shall be subject to the contract configuration, packing list and final technical solution. The quantity and status should be checked item by item according to the packing list, and the information should be handed over to the equipment supervisor or project leader for safekeeping. It is recommended to form a simple acceptance record after completing the unpacking inspection (arrival date, inspector, box number, equipment number, various statuses, abnormalities and photo numbers).

Frequently Asked Questions · FAQ

Can I try to ventilate the Pneumatic Industrial Manipulator immediately after it arrives?

Not recommended. Do not ventilate, energize, hoist or test the equipment without completing the equipment arrival acceptance, nameplate verification, component inspection and confirmation of installation conditions to avoid equipment damage or safety risks.

The outer packaging is damaged, but the equipment looks fine. Can I sign for it directly?

It is recommended to take photos for documentation first and indicate the abnormality of the outer packaging on the receipt. After unpacking, you need to check whether the host components, custom tooling, pneumatic tubing joints and accessories are affected.

What should I do if I find that the air-line joint is deformed or detached?

Stop the compressed-air test, photograph the abnormal area, and contact AUREK to confirm the corrective action. Damaged air-line fittings may cause leakage, unintended motion, or unstable tooling operation.

What should I do if the packing list and the number of on-site parts do not match?

You should first check the box number and item number to confirm whether multiple boxes are shipped separately or accessories are packed in separate boxes. If there is still any discrepancy, the missing items should be recorded and reported back to AUREK, and the contract configuration, packing list and final technical solution shall prevail.
